Accra, March 2026 (GNA) — The Ministry of Education has reiterated its commitment to working closely with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to safeguard the credibility and integrity of examinations in Ghana.
Speaking at the WAEC Distinction Awards Ceremony in Accra, the Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, expressed concern about the rising cases of examination malpractice.
“Practices such as impersonation, collusion and activities of so-called ‘miracle centres’ undermine the credibility of Ghana’s education system and erode public confidence in our certificates,” he said.
He described the situation as “deeply worrying”, stressing that such acts threaten fairness in the education system and reduce trust in WAEC certificates both locally and internationally.
Dr. Apaak emphasized that:
Examinations remain a key tool for assessing learning outcomes
They must be conducted with the highest level of integrity and fairness
He further stated that the government will:
Continue collaborating with WAEC and stakeholders
Strengthen systems to protect exam credibility
Promote values of hard work, honesty and discipline among students
