A Proud Moment for Ghana 🇬🇭
There’s something really special about seeing young people step up and shine especially on a global stage.
Augustus Kaufmann, the son of respected Ghanaian academic and quiz icon Elsie Effah Kaufmann, is doing just that. Together with his teammates from the Case Western Reserve University Math Club, he placed 2nd in the Ohio section of the Mathematical Association of America’s annual Leo Schneider Competition.

That’s no small achievement. These competitions are tough, bringing together some of the brightest math students, so coming out near the top says a lot about their skill, teamwork, and dedication.
It’s also inspiring to see Augustus building his own path while coming from such a strong academic background. Many people in Ghana already admire Professor Kaufmann for her role in promoting science and education, and now her son is making his own mark in an equally impressive way.
Moments like this remind us that young Ghanaians are doing incredible things all over the world. It’s a win not just for Augustus and his team, but for everyone who believes in hard work and aiming high.
Big congratulations to him and his team this is just the beginning 👏✨
